Can stars be overweight and successful in appearance-obsessed Hollywood?

For a long time, the answer has been no. But lately, plus-sized performers are confounding the conventional wisdom and not only getting work, but landing starring roles and snagging awards. Melissa McCarthy of CBS' hit sitcom Mike & Molly is the prime example. McCarthy, 41, is fresh from an Emmy win for her work on the show, and two weeks ago she hosted Saturday Night Live to rave reviews.
