"Grimm": A sly, modern spin on the fairy tale

The new NBC series stylishly updates a classic form. ABC's "Once Upon a Time," not so much. Everybody knows the modern world lacks enchantment. As a premise, that assertion is unprovable, but movies and TV shows have been saying it forever, so we just accept it as a trope, like, "The suburbs are shallow" and "When the railroads came, the Wild West became civilized." Any program built around it is therefore better off not dwelling on it, and focusing its energies instead on other, more basic pleasures: characterization, plot, atmosphere. Two new network shows are built around fairy tales and the absence of magic in modern life -- ABC’s "Once Upon a Time," which debuted Sunday at 8 p.m. and repeats this Sunday at the same time; and NBC’s "Grimm," which debuts tonight at 9 p.m./8 Central. The first is officially one of the season’s only new hits, but I thought it was awful: poorly written and directed and woodenly acted, except for Scottish actor Robert Carlyle’s performance as Rumpelstiltskin); you can can check it out Sunday and see for yourself, but I wouldn’t recommend it, unless you’re the type of person who hears somebody say, "This milk is sour" and says, "Here, let me taste it." NBC’s "Grimm" is much better -- not a great show right out of the box, but much more confident and stylish, more sure of what it wants to say and how it wants to say it. Can stars be overweight and successful in appearance-obsessed Hollywood?

For a long time, the answer has been no. But lately, plus-sized performers are confounding the conventional wisdom and not only getting work, but landing starring roles and snagging awards. Melissa McCarthy of CBS' hit sitcom Mike & Molly is the prime example. McCarthy, 41, is fresh from an Emmy win for her work on the show, and two weeks ago she hosted Saturday Night Live to rave reviews. All of that is on top of a standout performance in summer blockbuster movie Bridesmaids. http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/63791560.html

'Once Upon a Time' stars give scoop on season ahead

Now that you’ve checked out the season premiere of ABC’s time-jumping fantasy effort, Once Upon A Time (from two of the masterminds behind Lost, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz), you’ve gotten a taste of what you’re in for. But you’ve far from learned all the secrets the show plans to unleash. When EW went to the Vancouver set earlier this month, we got to chat with the cast and executive producer Steve Pearlman about what viewers can expect from the coming pages of this tale. Here’s what we learned: http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/10/23/once-upon-a-time-stars-give-scoop-on-the-season-ahead/

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

Bellwether Pictures proudly announces the completion of principal photography on MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, a modern version of Shakespeare’s classic comedy adapted and directed by Joss Whedon (Marvel’s upcoming THE AVENGERS, “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”). Filmed in just 12 days entirely on location in exotic Santa Monica, the film features a stellar cast of beloved (or soon to be beloved) actors – some of them veterans of Shakespearean theater, some completely new to the form. But all dedicated to the idea that this story bears retelling, that this dialogue is as fresh and intoxicating as any being written, and that the joy of working on a passion project surrounded by dear friends, admired colleagues and an atmosphere of unabashed rapture far outweighs their hilariously miniature paychecks. http://muchadothemovie.com/

Jason Dohring Previews His Ringer Run and Reflects Fondly on Veronica Mars

http://www.tvline.com/2011/10/jason-dohring-ringer-season-1-episode-6/ When news of Jason Dohring’s casting on Ringer broke, the Internet veritably exploded with excitement. In fact, the actor tells us, his manager promptly forwarded him “pages and pages of support…. I couldn’t have asked for more.” In this Tuesday’s installment of The CW’s freshman thriller (airing at 9/8c), Dohring makes his debut as Mr. Carpenter, a teacher at the public school that Siobhan’s troubled stepdaughter, Juliet, is forced to attend. While the character may seem innocuous enough, there might be more to him than meets the eye.

Captain America: TFA Scribes Reassure the Sequel Occurs "Primarily" in Present-day!

When the 2011 summer movie schedule started to take shape, it initially looked like Captain America: The First Avenger might get lost in the shuffle. After all, it was slated to be the last of four superhero adaptations to hit screens. However, over $300 million worldwide and a great reception from critics and audiences alike, it's clear that the Sentinel of Liberty was more than able to stand out in the crowd. http://www.thehdroom.com/news/A-Conversation-With-Captain-America-The-First-Avenger-Writers-Christopher-Markus-and-Stephen-McFeely/9723

Prologue is Attached to 'Mission: Impossible 4'

Oh this is awesome! SlashFilm is reporting, and we've confirmed with our own sources, that a 6-minute prologue for Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises will be showing in front of IMAX prints of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol this December. If you recall, it's opening in IMAX a few days early starting December 16th. This is a repeat of Warner Bros' showing the opening bank robbery prologue from The Dark Knight in front of I Am Legend in IMAX in late 2007. We can expect this to be shot and shown in IMAX just like that, which sounds amazing, as that was one of the most thrilling parts about the early lead-up to TDK. http://www.firstshowing.net/2011/the-dark-knight-rises-prologue-is-attached-to-mission-impossible-4/

Simon Baker Talks MARGIN CALL, Occupy Wall Street, THE MENTALIST, and His Thoughts on DOCTOR STRANGE

Opening this weekend, in limited release, is writer/director J.C. Chandor’s Margin Call. Starring Kevin Spacey, Demi Moore, Paul Bettany, Zachary Quinto, Penn Badgley and Simon Baker, Margin Call is a very smart economic thriller that revolves around the key people at an investment bank during the 24-hour period before the 2008 financial crisis. As the film unfolds, we learn who knew what and when, and what lines people are willing to cross to stay ahead. While Hollywood often glamorizes or exaggerates real events, Margin Call makes you feel like a fly on the wall and it never feels forced. Definitely recommended. Sony Pictures to Adapt ASSASSIN’S CREED

Sony Pictures is already hard at work trying to turn the popular video game series Uncharted into a movie (even though it kind of already is), and now they’ve cast their eye to another “Grab all the Walls” game. Variety reports that the studio is in final negotiations with game developer Ubisoft for the screen rights to Assassin’s Creed. The games center on an a secret order of assassins operating in past centuries (the first game is set in the 12th century, the next two games are in the 15th century), but are framed within a sci-fi context of being the memories of a hapless everyman* who’s at the center of a present-day secret war. The game features lots of parkour and trying to covertly pull off assassinations before you blow it and have to run the target down in the most attention-grabbing fashion possible. Ubisoft has set the terms of the deal to be a more active participant in the movie’s development rather than provide a one-off licensing agreement. Ubisoft chief Yves Guillemot says he also wants movies of Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon. Hit the jump to see a trailer for the first game and start your fan-casting in the comments section. http://collider.com/assassins-creed-movie-sony-pictures-ubisoft/121555/

'In the Land of Blood and Honey' Trailer: Angelina Jolie, Oscar-Nominated Director?

http://blog.moviefone.com/2011/10/21/in-the-land-of-blood-and-honey-trailer/ Probably not! But: the first trailer for Angelina Jolie's directorial debut 'In the Land of Blood and Honey' has snuck online, and it looks gorgeous? Tragic? Like the work of a budding master? Jolie's new film -- which doesn't feature the Oscar-winner onscreen -- focuses on the forbidden love between a Muslim woman and a Serbian soldier during the Bosnian war in the mid-'90s. That's controversial enough, but 'In the Land of Blood and Honey' was also dogged during production by rumors of rape being the source of their clandestine romance.

HBO's Game of Thrones Season 1 To Be Released March 20th On Blu-Ray/DVD

George R.R. Martin's fantasy novel, Game of Thrones was a critical and financial success for HBO. Initially considered to be an extreme risk due to a large cast ensemble and expensive sets needed to recreate the novel's distinct look, HBO's experiment has them laughing all the way to the bank and has opened the doors for similar experiments such as adapting Neil Gaiman's American Gods. Fans looking to sate their appetite for all things Lannister and Stark, will get a brief reprise in March as the first season becomes available to take home on Blu-Ray and DVD. Set for a release of March 20th (March 7th if you live in France) you'll be able to relive all the intrigue and betrayal of the multiple Emmy Award winning series in the comfort of your own home. No word yet on what extras and special features the Blu-Ray/DVD pack will contain. In the meantime, here's a short recap of Season 1 to hold you over until March.http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/GraphicCity/news/?a=48640

Full foreword for ‘Dear Me’ written by ‘Harry Potter’ author J.K. Rowling released

This is an extraordinary little book, based on a simple but wonderful idea: What would you say to yourself if you came face-to-face with the sixteen-year-old you? One of the many things that delighted and touched me as I read the letters that follow is the commonality of our human experience. Nearly everyone who wrote, whether their letter is jolly or poignant, seems to have looked back on their younger selves with compassion, remembering how vulnerable and dangerous an age sixteen is, for all the fun and freedom it is supposed to entail. And So It Begins, ‘The Descendants’ & ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ Lead Gotham Award Nominees

Well folks, the first batch of nominees this awards season have been revealed, with the Gotham Independent Film Award nominations landing this morning, giving an early peek at what will likely be some strong contenders down the line. Bear in mind, the Gotham Awards have little bearing on the eventual Oscar nods with only last year’s Best Feature winner “Winter’s Bone” factoring into the proceedings at the Kodak Theater. However, it does represent a good chunk of what you might see at the Independent Spirit Awards later in the year and if anything, these nominations confirm that Fox Searchlight is going to have another banner year on the statue circuit.http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/archives/and_so_it_begins_the_descendants_martha_marcy_may_marlene_lead_gotham_award/#

George R.R. Martin on His Favorite Game of Thrones Actors, and the Butterfly Effect of TV Adaptations

If George R.R. Martin thought he had a rabid fan base before, when each book in his best-selling fantasy series "A Song of Ice and Fire" was devoured by impatient readers, the success of the HBO adaptation Game of Thrones has raised the stakes considerably. We talked with Martin as he settled in after a long PR tour and got back to work on the next book in the series, The Winds of Winter. http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2011/10/george_rr_martin_on_his_favori.html

Downton Abbey Portrait of a Downton lady

Elizabeth McGovern is a very gracious lady. We all know this, of course, because, in Downton Abbey -- the TV costume drama that became such a sensation last year -- she plays the Countess of Grantham, wife, mother and chatelaine of a magnificent stately home, the eponymous abbey. In real life, the abbey is actually Highclere Castle near Newbury and Hugh Bonneville isn't Robert Crawley, the genial, loyal, rather wonderful Earl of Grantham, and Elizabeth McGovern isn't his American wife, Cora. But who cares about that? Read more: http://www.independent.ie/lifestyle/independent-woman/portrait-of-a-downton-lady-2886817.html#ixzz1bGaGvuq3

The New Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows Trailer

Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed the new trailer (via iTunes Movie Trailers) for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows which you can watch using the player below! Hitting theaters on December 16, the Guy Ritchie-directed film stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Noomi Rapace, Jared Harris, Eddie Marsan, Stephen Fry and Rachel McAdams. Sherlock Holmes (Downey Jr.) has always been the smartest man in the room... until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large—Professor Moriarty (Harris)—and not only is he Holmes' intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective. When the Crown Prince of Austria is found dead, the evidence, as construed by Inspector Lestrade (Marsan), points to suicide. But Sherlock Holmes deduces that the prince has been the victim of murder—a murder that is only one piece of a larger and much more portentous puzzle, designed by Professor Moriarty. The cunning Moriarty is always one step ahead of Holmes as he spins a web of death and destruction—all part of a greater plan that, if he succeeds, will change the course of history.http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/168682-the-new-sherlock-holmes-a-game-of-shadows-trailer

The Amulet of Samarkand: a Bartimaeus Graphic Novel by Jonathan Stroud and Andrew Donkin

How far would you go for revenge? After being humiliated by Simon Lovelace, twelve-year-old magician Nathaniel schemes to steal the Amulet of Samarkand from Lovelace's own home. In order to accomplish this task he calls upon the help of the powerful djinni called Bartimaeus. Only things quickly go wrong. The more I read graphic adaptations of books and other media, the more I realize that they're a lot like film adaptations. Like in movies, the author and illustrator need to strike a delicate balance. They need to be faithful to the source material, while making sure the adaptation fits its new format. One area where the Bartimaeus graphic novel succeeds is in faithfulness to the source material. Despite the fact that The Amulet of Samarkand was a rather thick novel most of it remains intact in this 144 page graphic novel. The writers did a very good job of distilling it down to its most important part. Unfortunately, such faithfulness almost ends up being this adaptation's undoing. http://bookish.livejournal.com/3048594.html

The age of Fandom viral sites, and why ‘Potter’ should copy ‘Twilight’

Over the past few months there have been three websites which launched to much fanfare within their respective fandoms. Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Twilight all have a site created by the legal owners, and they are each viral in their own way. But is one better than the other two? And which is best for its respective fandom? Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling was first out of the gate with Pottermore a few months ago (though technically it still hasn’t officially launched). The site is a place for fans to go to be sorted, read new content from Jo, and interact in limited ways with fellow Pottermore users. Next came Lionsgate with TheCapitol.pn for The Hunger Games fans. The site allows you to be placed in a District and receive a District Identification Pass. You’re then encouraged to share the pass on your social media networks. Not much else is offered presently. Most recently was Summit’s Twilight Time Capsule which allows fans to upload photos, video, and text from a particular time in Twilight history. You can then scroll through all the user-submitted content in an interactive interface. While it looks nice, there are some modifications that should be made so it’s easier to browse the content. http://www.hypable.com/column/andrews-take/2011/10/17/the-age-of-fandom-viral-sites-and-why-potter-should-copy-twilight/

How To Improve Memory With The Three Fingers Technique

The Silva Method teaches the Three Fingers Technique as a simple physical action (bringing the thumb and first two fingers of the hand together) that automatically triggers a desired mental response, programmed by you. When you wish to remember something, you can use the Three Fingers Technique. When you bring together the thumb and first two fingers of either hand, you adjust your consciousness to a deeper awareness level – the alpha brainwave state. At the alpha state, your mind is very open to new information and self-programming (suggestion). You absorb information through your senses, and your brain is programmed to be specifically aware of “this” information (focus on specific information) and to store it for easy retrieval. http://www.silvalifesystem.com/articles/memory/how-to-improve-memory/

'The Vampire Diaries' Stars Preview 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' (VIDEO)

It was unseasonably warm for late September when AOL TV visited the Monroe, Ga. set of 'The Vampire Diaries' last month. But the 92-degree weather set the scene all the better for 'Smells Like Teen Spirit,' the episode the cast and crew were filming that day. Although it's the sixth episode of the third season, it's actually the Mystic Falls High gang's first day of senior year. (We've only gone a year since the pilot.) That means cheerleading practice, football practice, and everything else that comes with having good ol' fashioned school spirit. http://www.aoltv.com/2011/10/17/the-vampire-diaries-preview-smells-like-teen-spirit/

BH Housewives Taylor: "Reality TV Saved My Life!"

She tells KTLA that she was in "an abusive relationship for six years," and the presence --or absence -- of cameras would not have altered that "reality." In the KTLA video below, Armstrong reveals that she may have subconsciously signed up for Bravo's 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' in order to escape what she claims was a wildly abusive marriage with her late husband, Russell Armstrong. "If the cameras were not in my life, there's a good chance I wouldn't be sitting here today because a lot of domestic violence situations end in murder-suicide versus just suicide." 25 Celebrity Coming Out Stories That Shocked The World

Star Trek" actor Zachary Quinto's coming out as gay via a profile in New York magazine made a lot of noise this weekend. Even in 2011, with the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" and gay marriage legal in New York, an A-list actor's decision to leave the closet isn't one made hastily or without losing some sleep. The fear of being shunned by casting directors concerned about a gay actor's ability to convincingly play straight and worries that he or she will end up alienating a major portion of his or her fan base has kept and continues to keep many in Hollywood closeted. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/17/25-celebrity-coming-out-stories_n_1015381.html

looking for new tv

Because I love to watch tv very much, oh may be not all time I am watching the tv- more shows I am watching through internet, but still I need good tv to watch it. Recently we bought one of the lcd tv, but we need more - to my daughter's room, to bedroom and I decided to research the internet. The most important questions are : 3D or not 3D? Features like Internet streaming and LED backlights are also important. Home theaters, or well budget tv , etc. I actually sank in all this information and thought that I'll never will be able to pick right tv. Also lcd &plasma ? This is the #1 question for me: Which is better, LED LCD TV or Plasma? And I found out that w hen choosing between plasma and LCD TVs, you're actually selecting between two competing technologies, both of which achieve similar features (i.e., ,bright crystal-clear images, super color-filled pictures. They are only different the way they deliver the image to the viewer. And this is not important for me. So I decided to take the tv whcih I'll be like- the price, the design, and the picture and my preference is lcd tv

The second season of the hit HBO fantasy drama has been slated to premiere in April 2012. There's been no specific date set, but that puts the premiere about six months away. That's quite the long time to wait to see what happens when Tyrion arrives at King's Landing, or if Sansa Stark will ever get her revenge on her betrothed, the despicable Joffrey. And honestly, who doesn't want to see more bromance scenes between Littlefinger and Varys? http://tvovermind.zap2it.com/cable/hbo/game-of-thrones/game-thrones-season-2-slated-april-2012-premiere/97329?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+tvovermind%2Ftvnews+%28TVOvermind+Television+News%29

Do Daisy and the Doctor need a bit of space? Matt Smith and Lowe spotted rowing* in the street.

The romance between Daisy Lowe and Doctor Who actor Matt Smith seems to have hit a rocky patch. Daisy and Matt, 28, who have been dating since last April, made two strained public appearances last week. On Tuesday, they arrived separately at the Daniel Silver for Acne clothing line launch party in London, with Daisy choosing to spend the night with newly single pal Alexa Chung. On Thursday night Matt and Daisy were out again but were seen rowing in the street outside London’s Cuckoo club. ‘Daisy slipped out for a cigarette with a mystery man which infuriated Matt,’ says a party-goer. ‘Matt dashed outside to confront her and shouted at her, “You’re weirding me out!” Daisy wasn’t having any of it and told Matt he was drunk, she was sober and wanted to go home.’ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2049640/Daisy-Lowe-Matt-Smith-spotted-rowing-street.html

Sean Bean and Lena Headey being flawless @ Scream Awards

Game of Thrones& Legend of the seeker

just finished to watch the GoT show and started to read the books- I think it is very good written and interesting. Another compliment to the show producers- they kept very close to the book and this I think made the show so good. In contrast of the show Legend of the seeker where producers butchered the book so heavy that only one was left- the name of characters. And this I think was the main reason that rating of the LotS had been dropped and show cancelled- nobody wants to see bad fanfic instead.

According to Tom Hiddleston, it's "all in a day's work." And as the man who plays Loki, the Norse god of mischief and the lead villain in upcoming Marvel ensemble epic "The Avengers," Hiddleston should know. The lanky British star sat down with a group of reporters on Friday to discuss his role in next summer's supercharged superhero film, revealing new details about how his character, who was first seen in last June's "Thor," serves as the evil force that brings together some of the most storied characters in comic book history.

Redecorating like Melanie Paxson

i've been thinking about redecorating a long time and now I've got an idea from Melanie Paxson. Melanie Paxson stars on the ABC comedy series "Notes From the Underbelly," which airs Wednesdays on ABC. Produced by film director Barry Sonnenfeld and Kim and Eric Tannenbaum ("Two and a Half Men"), the series is an ensemble comedy about pregnancy and maintaining relationships with family and friends.
I've found good and not very pricy euro lounger and I think that me and my dog will look good on it just like Melanie looks with her dogs. Also I've been thinking about good low table and ta-da this site has it too. May be little pricy but good quality and good look demand some spending. Another problem is with my lounge- I have a few pieces of furniture there and they are white, black and brown. I've decided to cover one brown piece with adjustable paper which look like zebra- black and white stripes which is soo stylish- just like Melanie floor cover is. And after that it popped up in my mind that it would be great to decorate it with some wold savannah animal - may be giraffe statue ? And I've found my giraffe statue

David Boreanaz Cheating Interview Never Happened, Says Rep

We were right. There's not a chance in heck that David Boreanaz would ever consider endorsing an online dating service for people in relationships cheaters. "This is an absurd story and not an opportunity that would ever be entertained," his rep says in a statement. In fact… READ: Parks and Rec Star Loves Nudity, Not Marriage Turns out that the offer was inspired by something that never happened. Here's the deal: The Australian edition of TV Week recently reported that the Bones star told them in an interview that his affair last year proved to be a "bonding experience" for him and his wife, Jaime Bergman. Based on that, the dating service came calling. No so fast, people. "David did not talk directly to TV Week," his rep said. "His recent quotes were from a press conference on behalf of Bones and taken out of context." While Boreanaz admitted in May 2010 that he had an affair, the cheating scandal was never mentioned by Boreanaz or anyone else for that matter during the recent press conference. New 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows' posters released

http://blog.zap2it.com/pop2it/2011/10/new-sherlock-holmes-a-game-of-shadows-posters-released-1.html We're creeping ever closer to the holiday season which can only mean one thing: More Sherlock Holmes, natch. To that end, Warner Bros. has given us an early gift -- two new character posters for the next Holmes installment, "A Game of Shadows." In the first, a bowler-wearing Robert Downey Jr. clutches a cool steampunk looking automatic pistol of some sort as a smoking Eiffel Tower looms in the background. The second features Holmes' right hand man, Watson, as portrayed by Jude Law, who is looking totally tough as he wields -- well, we're not sure what that is. Anyhow, he too is standing before a smoke-billowing landmark -- London's Big Ben.

The Vampire Diaries - The Reckoning Clip

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YlRHmA0mV0&feature=player_embedded

The Sarah Michelle Gellar series

The network picked up the rest of its rookie scripted dramas, The Secret Circle and Hart of Dixie. The CW has permanently collared Ringer. The network has picked up the dual-identity thriller starring former Buffy the Vampire Slayer Sarah Michelle Gellar for a full season. The drama, which launched a week before the Big Four networks kicked off their fall seasons, opened to 2.8 million viewers and a 1.6 rating in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic – the CW’s largest audience in its Tuesday at 9 p.m. slot in three years. The series, with 90210's opener, also was the net’s most-watched Tuesday in two years. Its most recent effort drew 1.7 million and a 0.7. Co-starring Nestor Carbonell, Ioan Gruffudd and Kristoffer Polaha, the series performed broader for the network than its predecessor, Life Unexpected. Ringer was the buzz of the summer as the series marked the long-awaited return to television for Gellar, who had been focusing on features in the years since cult favorite Buffy ended its run. STORY: How Do Sarah Michelle Gellar’s ‘Ringer’ Ratings Stack Up to ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’? The series originally developed for CBS dropped 800,000 viewers in its second week against the premiere of Fox’s heavily promoted Zooey Deschanel New Girl and the first Dancing With the Stars results show of the season and has averaged about 2 million viewers and a 0.9 in the key demo. In the network’s key 18-34 demo, the series is averaging a 0.9 rating. The network, in a move to expand its viewership, re-aired the pilot three days after its premiere and has also slotted it in the Wednesday at 8 p.m. slot previously occupied by its ratings challenged Mario Lopez-hosted unscripted series H8R. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/ringer-sarah-michelle-gellar-cw-245246

The Baby Boomer Way…5 ways to Tap into Your Next Chapter in Life

As a Baby Boomer, change keeps us young. But change is sometimes scary or confusing. What do we do next? How do we find our next great step? My advice: Learn something new, but let it be an extension of what you already know. Women often don’t realize the multitude of talents and experience they already have. So they wonder, “What is my next step in life?” or “How do I find my passion?” If you look at your life, and examine what has attracted and motivated you through the years, you will find your passion. Being a life coach I see it often: women come to realize they have actually been living their passions, and they have been accumulating the skills that are necessary to take their life one step further. As a generation, Baby Boomers are movers and shakers – they change themselves and they change the world around them. And we’re not going to go sulking into retirement. Just because we’re hitting retirement age does not mean we’re going to retire. http://www.vibrantnation.com/our-blog-circle/the-baby-boomer-way-5-ways-to-tap-into-your-next-chapter-in-life/?mqsc=E2761237

Criminal Minds Duo Shoot Down Hotch/Prentiss Romance

Write about CBS’ Criminal Minds — any story about it, really — and a small sect of fans is sure to surface throwing their weight behind a someday romance between BAU agents Hotch (played by Thomas Gibson) and Prentiss (Paget Brewster). “They have good chemistry and look great together, and she could bring out a less serious side to him,” one TVLine reader recently commented. “I want to see my Hotch have some fun.” Another reader chimed in, “The writers could get a lot of creative, intriguing material from a Hotch/Prentiss coupling,” while a third was a bit more extreme with her investment in the would-be coupling, declaring, “If the writers don’t put Hotch and Prentiss together in Season 7 it will be a travesty. They deserve to be together.” Read more at ONTD: http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/63436242.html#ixzz1aX28KckR

In August after NBC announced its fall lineup Gloria Steinem, Co-Founder of the Women’s Media Center said she hoped people would boycott the show. “It’s just not telling the truth about the era.” In response to the news of the show’s cancellation, Steinem said: “That the Playboy Club TV series set a record for fast failure proves that you can’t lie to women about what was good for us in the past and what wasn’t. Mad Men tried to tell the truth, but the Playboy Club was history according to Hefner.” NBC had come under fire from both progressive feminist groups and conservative morality groups for its celebration of the Hugh Hefner brand. If the show had been a hit, NBC likely would have ignored any cultural or social criticism in favor of advertisers’ dollars, but after dismal ratings for the pilot episode, and successive episodes with even less viewers, they pulled out. (Although the show will remain in production till October 10 and there is potential for it to reemerge on cable). Read more at ONTD: http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/63416137.html#ixzz1aW2xZnGD

Doctor Who 7 season

Doctor Who: The Brilliant Book 2012 is out, and in it Steven Moffat confirms Amy and Rory will not be in the Christmas Special - despite some recent indications that Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill have been filming new scenes, which one would have assumed is for the currently filming Christmas Special. Anyway, Moffat does confirm they'll be back in some capacity for season seven, so perhaps those scenes are for that. He also says the return of River Song is "dependent on Alex Kingston" - which may mean her schedule might not allow for it, or perhaps Moffat is simply being cagey. Buffy fanfic

Title: Bloodletting (Revised) Summary: This is a rough sequel to a parody my friend Mabus wrote called Blood Line. It says something of my character that I took a short story that was written on a lark and turned it into a novel length drama…though I’m not certain that something is positive. Buffy and Willow start off as broken as you’re likely to see them. Be patient. This story is about how learning to love can lead to recovery and perhaps even redemption. Rating: Adult Content: Sexual Situations and/ or Explicit Violence. Word Count: 110,538 thus far. http://buffy-fanfic.livejournal.com/609052.html

8 Radically Different Classics for the Fantasy Lover

http://www.squidoo.com/multigenreclassics Read much fantasy? Not at all? Personally, I have been an avid fantasy lover ever since I was little, and always dived for anything that had the remotest hint of magic in it. However, at some point I started feeling as though everything I read was the same. I still loved fantasy just as much, but everything felt like part of the same, giant book! Here's what it came down to: fantasy, like many other genres, has certain recurrent themes. While many authors write their own individual takes on these themes (and do just as well!), there can be good amount of similarity, and past a certain point, nothing seems new anymore. This list is not a top fantasy list. It's a list targeted at fantasy lovers. In it, you'll find sci-fi, action, magical realism, and a few gems which I feel are able to represent subgenres of fantasy.

Producers Talk Sarah Michelle Gellar’s ‘Ringer’

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Sarah Michelle Gellar’s “Ringer” has its most explosive episode to date on Tuesday, and while we’re forbidden from revealing tomorrow’s exciting plot twists (and they’re huge!), the people behind The CW series spent Monday morning offering hints on what’s to come – like romance from an unexpected source. According to Creator and Co-Executive Producer Eric Charmelo, SMG wants a little love action with Agent Machado, played by “Lost’s” Nester Carbonell. “We’re still trying to hammer out the details. Sarah wants to kiss him,” Charmelo laughed.http://www.accesshollywood.com/producers-talk-sarah-michelle-gellars-ringer-which-character-does-she-want-to-kiss_article_54922

Emma Watson

n case you were a little bleary eyed over your Breakfast Smile platter, that really was Emma Watson at the Eat'n Park, winding down after a long day of filming. It was one of her haunts -- along with the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bethel Park, which she called home -- for part of the spring and summer while filming "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" in Pittsburgh. "The shooting schedule's been kind of crazy. It's such a great group of people, and we all got so close that we mainly just hang out at the Crowne Plaza -- I'm serious -- and we play music," she said in late June in Peters Township. (Summit Entertainment just released the first photos from the movie set to arrive in theaters in 2012.) "Pretty much everyone that's part of the cast is musically talented in some way, so we spent most of our evenings playing music and just talking and just being silly. I've been to Eat'n Park a few times. A bunch of times, actually." She would usually go after filming when it was late and the place was quiet. "I haven't had too much time to do anything but everyone's been so friendly," she said. The 21-year-old plays high school senior Sam in the movie version of the novel about Charlie, a brilliant but sensitive 15-year-old who pours into letters his feelings about first-time emotions and experiences, perceptive observations about the people around him and, eventually, heartrending memories that surface. Emily Deschanel Sits Down with David Boreanaz

est known for his star turns on the small screen—in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Bones—David Boreanaz is thinking bigger these days, with his most noteworthy feature-film role to date in the inspirational sports drama The Mighty Macs. Set in the early 1970s and based on a true story, the film centers on Cathy Rush (Carla Gugino), wife of NBA referee Ed Rush (played by Boreanaz), who wants to coach the Immaculata College women’s basketball team. The film, which was shot in Philadelphia, was a kind of a homecoming for the Malvern Prep graduate. The son of retired WPVI weatherman Dave Roberts, Boreanaz seized the opportunity to take a recent trip down memory lane with his Bones costar Emily Deschanel. EMILY DESCHANEL: Let’s get down to business. Your dad was a famous and very handsome weatherman. My grandmother would say that—very handsome. Did he inspire you to get into television? DAVID BOREANAZ: My father was very supportive. He encouraged me and was always there for me. Seeing him in front of the camera, I was intrigued by his humor, his sense of style, and how he interacted with people. He gave me the sense of being comfortable in front of people and speaking from the heart. Moving to Philly [from Buffalo], I was first exposed to theater seeing shows on Broadway. That was very influential and powerful in awakening the spirit to be an actor. http://phillystylemag.com/celebrities/articles/emily-deschanel-sits-down-with-david-boreanaz?page=1

Game of Thrones, Season 2 BTS fan footage

Season 2 of HBO’s Game of Thrones is currently filming on location in Dubrovnik, Croatia, but not everyone can drop what they’re doing and head that way for an up-close-and-personal view. Fortunately, an intrepid fan provided a great video and pics for us. We’re not talking about a grand and epic adventure here. Unfortunately, there are no larger-than-life battles or high drama taking place, but the guy known as Bahamut1989Guardian has still given us a peek behind the scenes that we wouldn’t otherwise have. The first part of the video is taken from a high vantage point, with Guardian sweeping back and forth across the Thrones players as they take it easy between scenes. Honestly, things wouldn’t be very impressive if this was all that was offered. Fortunately, he soon enters the location and explores a little bit… until he’s caught and escorted away, anyway. Undeterred, he resumes filming from various locations, even managing to be at the back of scene that includes an angry mob while filming. The video, which also includes plenty of still photos and music from Season 1 of Game of Thrones, also gives us a couple of peeks at Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), who makes his appearance around the 5-minute mark. You won’t mistake it for a Thrones episode, but at almost 9-minutes in length, it’s a decent glimpse at what’s happening in Croatia Read more at ONTD: http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/63383977.html#ixzz1aLAxqiuk

Interview with Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams

Half-way through the day, at around lunch time, when most TitanCon visitors were enjoying a break, the guests kept on going strong. Though tired, they made themselves available for a 45-minute interview session, and graciously claimed they are doing just fine when we asked them how they fared. We gathered in an upstairs reception room dubbed The Eyrie. Since we didn’t want to trouble the guys too much, we tried to keep everything less formal, a kind of a friendly mingling cocktail-party-without-cocktails-style chat in which we asked some questions and tried to glean some interesting tidbits.http://winter-is-coming.net/2011/10/titancon-interview-session/

Bones star David Boreanaz who's admitted to being unfaithful during his decade long marriage says that the hurt his family and wife have felt has been "a bonding experience in the long run."
